Dancing into his fourth feature, Liam Prendergast teams up with the VIU Dance Team to explore what a week in the life of a team member looks like. He joins them for an action-packed schedule: starting with an early morning practice, followed by a drop-in evening dance class hosted by team member Ava Padley, and finally a trip to Vancouver for a special training session at Harbour Dance Centre. In this issue, Prendergast speaks with VIU Dance Team coaches and managers Katelyn Kurtz and Madeline Joseph about their roles and the team's exciting events on the horizon. He also talks with VIU students Avery, Caitlyn, and Nataya to hear their perspectives as non-dancers attending the team’s drop-in class. To round out the feature, Prendergast interviews Dance Team members Emma Fines and Kali Pilling, who share their insights on being part of the team and reflect on their favourite experiences so far.

Liam Prendergast
Liam is a fourth-year Digital Media Studies student born and raised in Winnipeg. He has played everything from football and basketball to rugby and handball, earning a spot on Manitoba’s provincial football team before retiring his cleats to pursue university, trading prairie winters for island rain in 2019. He’s produced numerous projects through the Digital Media Studies program and has worked closely with the VIU Dance Team for the past three years, filming their showcases, cabarets, and team portraits. When he’s not behind a camera, Liam can usually be found watching just about any sport, exploring the island with his fiancée Katelyn and their dog Koda, or watching a film at the movie theatre.
