The Navigator (or, as our readers call it, The Nav) is Vancouver Island University’s independent, student-run magazine with over 20,000 readers. We have strong connections throughout Nanaimo, and our many off-campus neighbourhoods, including Cowichan, Parksville, Qualicum, and Powell River. The Nav reaches the diverse, niche audience of VIU students—both new and returning—of all backgrounds, from students who grew up on Vancouver Island and are familiar with the city, to those from elsewhere in the world who have had the opportunity to see everything the university and the Island has to offer.
The Nav is a free and easily-accessible online magazine that not only reaches VIU students and staff, but also VIU alumni, and family of everyone connected to VIU. The Nav publishes monthly feature length articles and relevant weekly content from September through April.
We would like you to join us as we solidify and strengthen our online presence. As a recently fully online magazine, The Nav is excited to work with the community in the form of partnerships and advertisements.
