Real Estate Webmasters (REW) is holding a job fair with several possible positions for students on November 5.

“REW combines state of the art website design with proven search engine optimization techniques and advanced programming to produce the most effective real estate website on the internet,” said Kathryn Scott, REW’s Human Resources specialist.

According to their website, REW was founded in 2004 and has over 150 employees. It was named one of “Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies” and has been a leader in the real estate business since 2004. In 2014, CEO and Nanaimo resident Morgan Carey appeared on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, securing a record breaking $40,000,000 valuation for REW which he later turned down for an even larger deal with new US partners.

Scott mentions that REW hires students and they have part-time and full-time positions available. She describes the kind of people they are looking to hire as, “enthusiastic people who are ready to build a successful career in a city they love. We want people who are excited about the future – their future, their community’s future and REW’s future.”

Currently REW is looking for people to fill the following positions: Sales Consultants, Designers, Marketing Department specialists, Search Engine Optimization specialists, Tier One Support, Programmers and Project Coordinators, as well as a Creative Services Team Lead, Manager of Marketing, HR Manager, and HR Generalist.

“It’s an amazing place to work,” Scott said. “There is always something going on, TV appearances, celebrity clients, acquisitions, conferences, and hiring.”

An employee, that wished to be kept anonymous for privacy reasons, said that they enjoy working at REW, “because it feels like you’re going to work with your friends.” He added, “There are a mix of personalities, ages, and work experiences at REW.”

The employee works in the support department as a Technical Support Specialist and says there are two tiers. Tier One answers calls, emails, and guides new realtors on how to use their websites. Tier Two, where he works, handles harder technical issues that can’t be fixed over the phone. He applied at an REW job fair about one and a half years ago and has been enjoying his work since then.

“Everybody helps out each other,” they said. “There is a lot of teamwork, collaborating, and positive vibes.”

Due to the rapid growth of the company, REW holds several job fairs each year. Anyone is welcome to stop by to learn about all the positions REW is hiring for, and there will be managers and team leaders there to answer any questions.

The job fair will take place from 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-3 p.m. November 5 in the Dodd Narrows Room at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
