Coming up on September 16 is the one year anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s capture into Iran police custody and her death in Tehran, Iran in 2022.

Mahsa Amini’s arrest was instigated by the apparent misuse of her hijab. The coroner determined that her death was caused by a heart attack, but many Iranian protesters argue that this was a cover up on behalf of the government.

Iranians all over the world have been protesting every Saturday since.

In Nanaimo, the Iranian-Canadian Cultural Society of Vancouver Island is preparing a protest to participate in the global rally of Mahsa Day this September 16th.

Iranian-Canadian families and friends will gather at 3:00 pm, downtown Nanaimo at the Intersection of Terminal Ave. and Commercial St.

The leaders of the IranVi Society welcome you to join them whenever you are available. Please send any questions to their Instagram, iranvi.ca.
