October Horoscopes

Aries

You’re currently the only person in your friend group who’s in a relationship. On the surface, you’re part of a happy couple. But with the brightly coloured leaves and autumn chill, October is bringing you feelings of frustration, fatigue, of longing for the days you were single. Don’t keep them bottled up. Talk with your significant other. Maybe you need some more alone time or a break. If things are meant to be, you’ll come back stronger and at peace with yourselves and each other.

Taurus

October might be the month of turkey dinners and jack-o-lanterns, but it’s also the time for midterms, papers, and projects. Which is just fine for you, since you love the thrill and challenge of assignments and deadlines. But don’t get carried away with your to-do lists and school schedule. Remember to take time off for yourself, whether it’s a walk in the park, a cup of chai, or lying on your bed listening to a podcast. Remember: work smart, not hard.

Gemini

Now for our social butterfly. It’s time to work on your diplomacy. In your social interactions inside and outside of class, keep a listening ear open, even if you don’t understand or agree with the other person. And before you initiate a battle of words, ask yourself, “Where’s this person coming from?” Then ask them, “Would you mind explaining your opinion?” You might come away from a new friend or debate partneror a potential soulmate.

Cancer

You’re doing great at the start of the semester. Next thing you know, though, you’re homesick. You miss your parents, siblings, cat or dog (or snakewe won’t judge). It’s okay to feel sad, mad, or both. Plan a visit home or, if you’re from outside of Canada, phone or video call your folks. And reach out to your friends. You may be the “parent” of the group, but even you need a shoulder to cry on.

Leo

Now for our lion-hearted friends. This month is full of opportunities for you to put your leadership skills to good use. Running in the student elections? Leading a sports team or club? Your blood, sweat, and tears won’t go to waste. In fact, October will give you the extra boost you need to come out on top. And even if you don’t get the results you want, you’ll find yourself with good connections and a strong foundation to build on. That’s networking for you!

Virgo

We’re now a month into classes and, Virgos, you’re really getting into the swing of things. You’re on top of assignments, building up your social calendar, and feeling confident about everything else in your life. It’s time to party! But hold your horses. Why not share that happiness with those around you? This October, show your love and care through little acts of kindness, like a conversation with a classmate you don’t usually talk to or a cheerful smile to someone having a bad day. When you make the folks around you happy, you’ll be happier, too.

Libra

Libras, this is your month! That spectacular solar eclipse you’ve seen pictures of on your social media feed will bring you lots of good opportunities. Does that mean you can sit back and relax? No! It’s time for you to put your wits and natural charm to use. Cozy up to your profs at the next faculty get-together or that cute student strumming their guitar at Open Mic Night. Whether it’s an internship at your dream company or a date, you’ll get lucky this October, as long as you’re willing to put a little leg work in.

Scorpio

We’re sorry, Scorpios, but you might want to cut back on your commitments. Expect October to be a rough month: studying for mid-terms, fighting the flu, and realizing you’ve lost your spooky side and can’t do anything Halloween-related anymore. But don’t feel bad about it. It’s probably just a reminder to practice some self-care. Might we suggest a date with a library book or a visit to a cat lounge? Rest, recharge, restart!

Sagittarius

You know what’s scarier than ghosts and ghouls? Someone on a mission! Jokes aside, fall is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and add to your resume or Co-Curricular Record. Sharpen that elevator pitch, volunteer to be your club or faculty rep, and apply for that job you’re thinking about but aren’t entirely sure you qualify for. Just do ityou don’t know until you try. You’re a Sagittarius. No matter where you shoot, you’ll always land in the stars.

Capricorn

Ah, Capricorn. You’ve got your nose to the grindstone, pedal to the metal. Anyone who gets in your way earns an earful from you and leaves with their tail between their legs like a scolded puppy. But listen up: all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It’s time for some fun. Hiking up Mt. Benson, singing karaoke at the pub, competing in intramurals at the gym. The more you remember to loosen up, the better balanced you’ll be in your work/life. (Also, you should watch The Shining this Halloween.)

Aquarius

Money: a touchy subject you don’t want to talk about or think about, but that always lurks in your mind, especially after you’ve paid for tuition and rent. Well, we have good news and bad news for you. The bad news: you might want to cut back on the Starbucks PSLs. The good news: you might be able to earn extra cash with some casual jobs or gift card giveaways. This month, don’t stress too much about money. You just need to be a little more careful. And remember, there’s always the bank of Mom and Dad!

Pisces

Poor Pisces. While everyone goes trick or treating, you’re burrowing yourself under blankets and blowing your nose. Even if you started October fit as a fiddle, by the halfway mark you’re feeling drained of energy. You might not be able to avoid the sick days, but you can fight off the worst of them. Stock up on teas and soups. Ditch the t-shirts and start wearing sweaters if you haven’t already. Finally, meet up with your friends inside as much as possible, so that you can still have fun while staying healthy or healthier.
