On November 3 there will be a Q&A session with artist Lynda Faulks concerning the “Sustainability Mural Project” hopefully coming to VIU this spring.

Why you should care

If you have any questions concerning the date, difficulty, or content of the Mural Project, the Q&A is a great place to ask.

What

VIU is co-sponsoring “The Gathering” with the Institute for Innovation in Education (iiE) this month from November 4 – 6.

Why you should care

The Gathering will “offer teachers, educational leaders, and students the opportunity to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary network of like-minded practitioners towards excellence and innovation in educational practice and policy” and will feature workshop presentations, poster sessions, project showcases, a panel discussion, and a story slam, among other activities.

What

The Compass Rose undergrad journal is looking for submissions to their essay competition on the subject of “the fundamental questions of life”.

Why you should care

First place winners will receive a prize of $150, second place will receive $50, and many submissions will be offered the opportunity to be published in the journal.

What

The City of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation department is seeking program proposals for their 2017 spring and summer sessions.

The City is holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade downtown on November 11 from 8 am – 1 pm.

The parade will begin on Chapel St., travel along Front St., and finish on Church St.

The annual Vancouver Fan Exposition is being held from November 11 – 13 this month, and will be “a three-day pop culture extravaganza”.

Aislinn is a third year Bachelor of Arts and Science student majoring in creative writing and minoring in chemistry.
