The Snowed in Comedy tour arrived at the Nanaimo Port Theatre on January 10.

The tour began in British Columbia on January 3 in Smithers and will wrap up in Vancouver on February 8. An additional show in Whistler was added to the tour for January 15. The tour included shows at venues in cities such as Terrace, Courtenay, Whistler, Banff, and Fernie.

This marks the tour’s sixth year in BC. The tour was set up to allow the four comedians to travel around performing shows in the evenings and snowboard in some of the best locations in BC and Alberta.
The comedians this year include MC Craig Campbell, Peter Johansson, Dan Quinn, and Arj Barker.

Campbell has appeared in many different TV shows, including Just for Laughs. Johansson was raised in Canada and is rapidly growing in popularity within the comedy industry. Johansson has also appeared on three episodes of Just for Laughs and currently resides in London, Ontario, to keep up with his demanding tour dates.

Quinn is well-known for being the winner of the Canadian comedy competition on Just for Laughs and opening for large names such as Russell Peters, Tracy Morgan, and Tom Green. Barker is well recognized for his role of Dave on the HBO sitcom Flight of the Conchords.

A Snowed in Comedy tour has been planned for Europe commencing on February 18 and running until March 15. Venue locations will be in France, Switzerland, Austria, and Norway.

Barker said it was a great crowd in Nanaimo and that it was “one of the best audiences” on the tour. Barker jokingly added that they were unaware that they had to bring their own snow with the current rainy weather that Mount Washington has been experiencing.
