Campus Rec has you covered when it comes to keeping those New Year’s Resolutions this semester. Chock full of activities that will inspire anyone to remain active through this rough patch of snow, the Spring 2016 calendar classes are filling up fast.

Programs like Outdoor Recreation, with caving at Horne Lake, snow shoeing and Tofino surfing day-trips are cheap, convenient and tons of fun for students wanting to remain active this semester, without having to be bound by weekly classes. Though cancelling is an option, the class itself will run regardless of weather conditions which means you won’t lose your money.

For those who like a weekly schedule, Campus Rec also offers scheduled classes and intramural sports, all of which are filling up fast. Whether you like high intensity or low intensity workouts, the variety of offerings like Beginner Aikido, Boxing Kickboxing Basics, Cycle Blast and Circus Yoga can easily fit with your schedule without compromising your weekend plans, as most of the classes run from Monday to Thursday.

If going by your own terms is more your thing, the VIU Gym is always open Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on the weekends, with court rentals, multi-purpose rooms and locker and towel rentals. Students must present a valid VIU student card to use equipment and user passes are free during enrollment. Alumni can also purchase a membership at a discounted rate with their alumni card, and community members can also purchase a membership.

Space is limited so make sure to sign up online soon.

You can also sign up in person at the VIU Gym Front Desk in Bldg. 190—make sure to bring your Student ID.
